Rumor had it that every Saturday night Liaoyang's fanciest pool hall would have live performance with a host of beautiful girls. This had to be further investigated of course, by me, in person. Greg was having dinner with a friend of Jin Xin's (金鑫) and we decided to hook up for some Korean barbecue and then heading over to the pool hall together. We got picked up by He Guangping (何广平) in his red Jili (吉利, the new owners of Volvo, remember) sport car outside Carrefour. There was silkworms (蚕蛹) for lunch at the factory today so I only had two bowls of rice. The barbecue therefore turned into a small orgy of meat eating and beer drinking (the ideal for any Saturday, no?). Once we made it to the pool hall it quickly became obvious that the rumors were terribly out of date and that the performances were something of the past. Tired and disappointed, Greg took to napping in one of the big and comfortable chairs while me and Guangping duked it out at the tables. Girls or not, still a very good night out.
