TITLE: ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE LOCATION: SHOUSHAN (首山) MISSION: FIGHT MY COLD DATE: 2012-01-09 Inspired by my awesome trouser-buying display yesterday, Wu Yang (吴洋) also went shopping today. He had a girl on the staff recommend a pair at the first place we went (Zeelon Jeans), tried them on, paid, and off we went. A true display of male shopping prowess indeed. The next item on the agenda: healthcare. When two weeks and five different kinds of medicine (two Western and three Chinese) have been largely ineffective I decided to try something new. Since the mood and attitude of the patience can affect the immune system and healing process, I decided to try and cure myself by increasing my happiness. First, money makes people happy so I decided to replenish the roll of cash I keep in the inner pocket of my jacket. The mere presence of a large amount of money will hopefully help heal my poor throat. Another thing that makes people happy is sweets. My favourite cake in China is the Pourtugese egg-custard tart (蛋塔), of which I secured a(n) (un)healthy dose through KFC (among the best actually). The new yellow peach flavour is amazing. In case these two methods fail, I hedged by trying two kinds of traditional Chinese medicine: 刮痧 (gua sha, back-scraping) and 拔罐 (ba guan, suction cups). They better do me some good because they hurt as hell. |
