Today the foreigners (with Chinese friends) celebrated the passing of 2011 and greeted 2012 welcome. Randie Collette from the USA hosted the grand event at her appartment in downtown Liaoyang. Me and Gregory met early to go to Carrefour and pick up drinks and snacks. It turned out that all the other guets also brought more drinks and snacks than just for themselves so we ended up with more stuff than we could ever finish in one evening (the picture shows only a little less than half). While waiting for midnight to arrive we played beer-pong, mafia, "I have never...", free-for-all-table-tennis-withouth-a-table-lose-and-you-drink and a bunch of other silly games. When the countdown began, finished and the toasting and well-wishing began, Li Meini (李美妮, in the red shirt) went to the toilett and missed the whole thing. Kind of anticlimatic. After some more drinking, the wait for the Ukranian new year (06:00) began. What better way to pass the time than playing some mahjongg? When everyone finally grasped the rules we played a couple of games and all of a sudden the time was already a little over four in the morning. The Chinese decided to head home and we put on the movie Johnny English. It was a little uncomfortable as both Randie's couch lost a couple of legs earlier during the night. Oh well, we'll fix that in the morning.
