TITLE: THE TERRACOTTA ARMY
LOCATION: THE GRAVE OF EMPEROR QIN
MISSION: MORE SIGHTSEEING
DATE: 2009-07-12

The terracotta army was of course high up on the "to see"-list and with time running short before moving on the the Yellow Mountains we decided to go see it today. It was nice, just like the the last two times I saw it. Not much to say about it really; it is one of those things whose majesty should be seen with your own eyes. Before enjoying some great hotpot at Lijiacun (李家村) we did some street photography on the way there. My catch included a hole in a taxi floor, a huge load of Styrofoam, a dude working a jackhammer without ear protection, watermelons and one of the ubiquitous and very dangerous open manholes. After some nighttime photography from the roof of my dorm, I had planned to show Alex "my" alley, the alleyway full of restaurants and food stands just south of South University Rd. (大学南路)...but when we got there it turned out that they had torn the whole place down like last week. Some surprise. Things sure change quickly around here in China. [o_o]
