The newly opened Chinese restaurant Laowai (老外, foreigner) is rumored to have the most authentic-tasting Chinese food in Västerås, something that of course had to be put to the test. My good friend from Shenyang and former colleague, Yang Xi (杨曦), was the one who recommended the place and volunteered to try their sweet & sour pork with me. The taste was okay, not 100% like "real" Chinese food but definitely the best I have had over here. The world sure is small, the waiter (任靖) graduated from Northwest University in Xi'an, the very same school where I took a year of Chinese back in '08. Some coincidence, eh? Anyway, if you want proper Chinese cuisine come here, but make sure to tell them you want the real deal or they will give you the Swedish version.
