TITLE: GEOCACHES IN BEIJING
LOCATION: CHAOYANG PARK (朝阳公园)
MISSION: TRY TO CATCH 'EM ALL!
DATE: 2012-03-12

The original plan for our this one day in Beijing was to go crazy in the Silk Market (秀水) and buy a bunch of cheap knock-off clothes. Fortunately my dad's lust for shopping was completely satiated by our stint in Xiamen, which left today free for other adventures. The weather was amazing so we thought: "Why not just go outside and see if we can find some caches?" We loaded the GPS with ten caches in the area around Chaoyang Park and grabbed a taxi. The first one was easy to find, hidden in a pipe (picture #2), but the second, third and fourth eluded us much to our chagrin (picture #4, 6, 7). Just as our morale was faltering we found one in the park and then two more in quick succession just outside. We found the fifth on the roof of the third floor in the Village (三里屯) only after we eventually read the instructions properly. There was another one here but it was too complicated so we skipped it. The next one was hidden just opposite of The Place (世贸天阶, the huge outdoor screen). The 10th and final one just so happened to be hidden next to the Silk Market, so even if we didn't go all the way over there we still saw it. Enough if you ask me. Tired and hungry we headed back to the Kerry Centre (嘉里中心) and waited for Wu Qianyi (吴牵奕) to get off work. The day ended with a fantastic meal at a nearby restaurant and a second trip to The Place to see the screen in action.
