TITLE: BARBECUE GALORE
LOCATION: NORTH COMMERCE AVENUE (商业街)
MISSION: GET AWAY FROM THE COLD
DATE: 2012-02-27

Still no water in the dormitory today...AND...no heat either. Not in the office either. Apparently the heating broke down last night and it will take a few days to repair. Even if reparing it was quickly done it will be shut down come March anyway, since "spring is here" according to the lunar calendar. I would beg to differ, judging from how cold the weather can make a building made entirely out of concrete and stone tiles. Nedless to say, it was dressed as if going outside just to stay warm inside. When afternoon finally came around me and Wu Yang (吴洋) fled downtown to get something to eat. At the supermarket (正德) we ran into Zhang Xijun (张锡军) the IT technician at Wanxingda. He came to buy some water but we persuaded him into having some Korean food instead. Kang Wei (康伟), Wu's colleague, had recommended a place suitably called "Korean Town" (韩城) that we decided to give a shot. Funny thing: the place was flanked on both sides by korean barbecue restaurants. Competition must be tough. The food at this one was unremarkable altough passable, and slightly upset my stomache. I have yet to figure out exactly why that happens every time I have either hotpot or barbecue, as it doesn't appear to make a difference where we go or what we order. It can't be the alcohol, because we didn't have any today. I went to sleep exceedingly early today as my room is too cold for any activity other than sleeping curled up in bed. With both hat and scarf on. Stupid heating.
