Today was a busy day at Hongchang. One of their oldest customers, Vikas Sahay from India (WIlson Engineering Industries), was on a visit today, which meant that Mr. Kou (寇总) from sales and Zhang Rui (张睿) the interpreter were busy in one long meeting all day. Even though Vikas both came and left today, no visit would be complete without a dinner, and one was thus squeezed in in the afternoon before Vikas left for the airport. I ran into Mr. Kou just as they prepared to leave and he asked if I wanted to come along, an offer I of course couldn't refuse (nor did I want to). With no time to spare we headed over to the Little River Fish, since it is the restaurant (one of Shoushan's best actually) located closest to the factory. I got to try two new things today: 1) wild stewed frog, and 2) river crab. Crab isn't all that strange, I know, but this was the first time I ate one the proper way (Mr. Kou is somewhat of a master and an amazing teacher). The frog was actually pretty nice, even if it looked...perhaps less than appetizing. Very soft and tender meat with caviar (?) inside. We also had silkworms, which was a first for Vikas. We had to keep it quick or Vikas would have missed his flight, but we still managed to down a couple of beers and chat for a while. However short a dinner might be, it always nice to make a new acquaintance.
