TITLE: NEW YEAR'S DINNER PARTY

The workers in the factories at Hongchang get an extra week off work during the new year thanks to the heavy nature of work and they leave on monday. Every year Hongchang arranges for a dinner party in the canteen to send them on their way. Speeches were made, management toasted to good fortune, performances were perfomed and songs were sung. The two most memorable ones were the guys in picture #5-6, although I didn't quite get what the guy with the brick was all about, he just walked around on the stage not singing...They made me sing a song as well, completely impromptu in regular Chinese fashion. My trusty colleagues didn't let me go on the stage alone, so we did Truehearted Heroes (真心英雄) together (the one song which lyrics I know pretty well). 450+ people in the audience, my biggest crowd so far. The dinner was okay but nothing special, definitely a couple of steps up from the lunch they serve in the canteen though. After some lottery drawings with beer and soft drinks as prices, the party drew to a close. It was a nice party but it kind of reminded me of the parties the teachers threw back in middle school. They guys at Hongchang even blasted Vengaboys at every opportunity they got. Oh, the memories... [^_^]
