Gregory (the Ukranian) met an American by the name of Randie the other day when playing badminton. Randie is here in Liaoyang as an English teacher at a private school teaching 3-14 year-olds. For no other reason than to make new friends we went for a movie and then dinner. It was Greg's idea so he got to pick the movie: The Adventures of Tintin (non-3D version). It was all Chinese without even Chinese subtitles, which made it kind of tricky for Greg and Randy, but I did my best translating the most important parts. We were the only ones, so we didn't disturb anyone anyway. I am proud to say that I managed to understand at least 95% of what was said. Definitely encouraging and even a little heartwarming. After the movie we went to the Jeju Island Korean barbecue restaurant, always a safe bet. Haflway into dinner, the Chinese guy wearing a green sweater comes by holding a bunch of beer bottles, exclaiming "You! It is you, the guy from the gym!", after which he toasted us all and went back. Apparently they both freauent the same gym. Bellies full and spirits high we bid farwell to Randie and went back home to Shoushan to get some sleep.
