TITLE: ANOTHER PAGODA VISIT
LOCATION: LIAOYANG (辽阳)
MISSION: SEE WU YANG'S COUSIN OFF
DATE: 2011-12-03

How can you see that someone is from the most northern province in China (Heilongjiang, 黑龙江)? They wear t-shirts and leather jackets when everyone else dress in long sleeves, sweaters and down jackets. Zhenlei (振雷) and Hefeng's (贺丰) train didn't leave until 13:30, so after having brunch we went downtown for some shopping. We went to the Jingdu Shopping Centre (京都购物中心, picture #3) first, but it was closed pending renovations so we went to the New Century Mall (新世纪) instead. I like how the Chinese don't waste any space when it comes to shopping; even the underpasses are packed with shops. You can basically spend money non-stop going between different shopping malls. We rounded up our trip to Liaoyang with a visit to the White Pagoda (白塔). Even though neither of our guests were particularly interested in neither history nor pagodas, they were very concerned with getting photographed next to it and the temples in the surrounding gardens. It was indeed a much more pleasant experience in nice weather. For some reason I suspect this won't be the last I see of this particular pagoda.
