TITLE: A BEIJING VISIT LOCATION: SHENYANG & BEIJING MISSION: HIT THE ROAD DATE: 2011-11-05 The day before the big day, and boy was it a long day! I will try to keep it brief and let the pictures speak for themselves. A picture says more than a thousand words, right? I got up at 05:00 to catch the bus to Shenyang (provincial capitol of Liaoning Province) where my train awaited me. If you are ever going by D-train in China I would recommend you get first class tickets, as the seats are markedly bigger than in the regular compartments. After 5 hours I arrived at Beijing Station, where my old classmate Wu Qianyi (吴牵奕) picked me up. I just had to get 古老肉 (the nice meat-dish) at my favourite restaurant in Beijing (just next to 全聚德 at 和平门). Unfortunately, they had changed chef since last time (-09) and they removed the dish from the menu. Doh! [T_T] The rest of the day we spent shopping in east downtown Beijing, finishing at 贸易商场 for a coffee. After Qianyi dropped me off at the hotel and went home, I went to the wedding rehearsal. Chen and Zhang had found a really nice Yunnan-style restaurant to hold the wedding ceremony. When the wedding planner was satisfied with our performance it was time to get back to the hotel and go to bed. I fell asleep sometime after midnight, completely exhausted. I am starting to get nervous about this whole best man thing, everyone keep telling me that it is hard work (非常辛苦). As long as they don't make me make a speech I will be fine, I think. |
