Horribly sleep deprived I arrived at Beijing International Airport this morning. The shrimp and noodles that I had for breakfast on the plane was way too greasy and somewhat unsettled my stomache. Unfortunately, the small shop outside the arrivals exit had neither fruit nor plain bread and I was not in the mood for sweets, so I had to make do with some water. Well at the the bus stop some greasy dude tried to hawk me a ride on a private minibus, which I politely declined. In retrospect I should have gone with the minibus. Hell, I would gladly have paid for a taxi if I had known what the bus ride would be like! The bus looked like it had seen the worst part of two decades and was small, packed, bumpy, noisy and dirty. To top it all off, the driver had accidentally switched on the heating instead of the air conditioner, which it took people like 15 or so minutes to realise. Next time I think I will go downtown and just take the train instead, the shuttle buses to Tianjin just don't cut it. This was pretty much all I did today. After Xu Jia's parents picked me up at the station we had a late lunch, after which we went home and I went to sleep immediately. I just woke up to get something to drink and upload some pictures.
