18 hours on a train is remarkably boring for those who didn't know and was wondering. I spent the first 2-3 hours listening to music and enjoying the countryside scenery. Then two students from my univeristy found me and we spent a little over 3 hours talking. After that it was about time to go to bed anyway and I was pretty tired from standing for so long. Unfortunately, the sleepers were a little on the small side and hard as hell. But I shouldn't complain. My Chinese friend bought a 30+ hours standing ticket (a ticket without a seat, not just a ticket without a reserved seat). That's hardcore. On a side note: each unit of six sleepers have a big thermos and there is unlimited availability of hot water on the train. How Chinese.
