I went to the wall with a friend today, Iwaze Kazue. A visit to the wall is all but compulsory if you come to Xi'an. I started the afternoon by forgetting my student ID, which nets me a 50% discount on tourist attractions. Good work, Johan! Once on top of the wall we rented one of the dozen or so shoddy tandem bikes available. We got 100 minutes for 40 yuan, and we actually made it all around the wall in just 95, which isn't that bad. Really wasn't much to see though, the smog was heavy today and for some reason the poorest neighbourhoods are those close to the wall; a rather depressing sight. Still, it was nice to get out and see a little of the city.
