Today Arden Montgomery (Monty among friends) bought a cellphone. A Chinese friend told us about this China Mobile store, which supposedly was both big and had good service, so off we went. My God, are there phones in Xi'an! There is actually a whole block downtown of just cellphone stores. All the brands, packed wall-to-wall. Incredible. And this China Mobile store turned out to be with all brands at one place, surrounded by smaller stores carrying specific brands. As usual, they insisted to show you that everything in the unopened box works. Apparently the Chinese like touchscreens; almost all of the domestic brands have them. There are also lots more to choose from, colours, shapes and what not. Western companies could learn something here.
