Today saw the compulsory visit to the Summer Palace. This morning Maria and I rushed back to Wang Fu Jing to buy her some new shoes, as her heels were giving up. This was of course no surprise to those of us who brought "fotriktiga" shoes. Well at the palace garden we decided to do the whole thing, which took 3-4 hours or so. While walking around some fell for the temptation of dressing up like the concubines of old. Great fun and quite a spectacle to behold, just ask all the Chinese tourists who stopped to take photographs. We almost ran the entire last sixth of the lap around the lake, as the only toilet on this side of the lake was out of order. It figures, just because Maria needs one the only working toilets are on the other side of the park.
